IRELAC POLICY BRIEF PAPER 2020/04

The Pandemic is affecting the whole Planet and its socio-economic costs will be huge. Latin America and the Caribbean will also be strongly hurt by this global shock. This Policy Brief drafted on 13/13 April 2020, gathers the early information available for the region and more specifically for Chile. This country appears up to now to be affected with the lowest death rate. On the macroeconomic side, its economy will suffer too but its room for manoeuver seem still higher than in most other economies of its region. The document presents the monetary and fiscal measures which were adopted in March and early April for mitigating the socio-economic impacts of the Pandemic and the resulting economic shock.
