On Friday, November 30, 2018, ULB University hosted an international symposium titled “China-Latin America and the Caribbean: Assessment and Outlook” in Brussels.
Christian Ghymers, as the President of IRELAC, was asked to intervene as the keynote speaker. His presentation was about “China-Latin America: An European View”. He pointed out Chinese posititve aspects apon LAC economic development, as well as the fast growing depency on trade and investments. He concluded that the Chinese opportunity for LAC will only be positive if the LAC countries are able to coordinate and work together.
The full-day seminar that gathered experts from Europe, Latin America and China was a good opportunity to assess the relationship between China and Latin America (in terms of issues and opportunities).
At the seminar, IRELAC was represented by five of its members: Christian Ghymers, Claudio Dondi, Franck van de Craen, Antoine Masquelin and Clara Descamps. IRELAC participated to the pannels and the open discussions.
